Set-Up Guidelines

Needs are determined by room type and size, audience size and seating, accoustics etc.

Is it an ELEVATED STAGE IN AUDITORIUM OR LARGE HALL?

NOTE: A large space can NOT be used without a functioning, adjustable sound system (see below).

An elevated platform allows Fujita-san to kneel in traditional Japanese style, rather than standing or sitting in a chair. Please provide a floor pillow, rug, or mat (gymnastics mat is okay).
Optional: enhance the atmosphere with a folding screen background.

Fran will stand on stage or at floor level to introduce stories and manage participation. Please provide a table there to hold props and materials, and a chair.

For most programs, audience members must be able to come on stage to participate in demonstrations. If easy stage access is not available, Fujita-san prefers to stand at floor level in front of the stage instead. Then she will need a long table there for demonstrations.

Is it a GYM, LIBRARY, LARGE MEETING ROOM? (speakers & audience at same level)

A sound system (see below) may be required for groups over 150.

Please provide a long table for demonstrations.

At one side, please provide two chairs and a small table to hold props.

Is it a SMALL ROOM? (small audience seated in chairs or on floor)

Please provide two chairs and a small table to hold props.

Please provide a floor pillow for Fujita-san.

Demonstrations can be done on carpeted floor or on a low table (coffee table or piano bench).

SOUND SYSTEM

Please provide a sound system with at least one microphone channel (preferably two). Please CHECK the system in advance to make sure it’s working smoothly. We will bring our own wireless mics, adaptable to most systems.
